Joining & pricing

How much does it cost to join?
Sign-up is free. Fees depend on the payment methods you enable.
What types of entities can join?
Companies, sole traders, associations, foundations, condominiums and government entities.
How do I sign up with lusopay?
Click "Sign up free" on the website and complete the registration form. Once registered, log in to our homebanking and submit your documents. At the end of the registration form we show the list of required documents, so you don't miss any.

Payment services

How do direct debits work?
Set up a mandate once and start receiving monthly fees, subscriptions or membership dues automatically, with no manual effort or delays.
How does MB WAY work?
Request the payment to your customer's phone and get confirmation within seconds — no terminal, no card, no physical contact.
How do Multibanco references work?
Generate a reference with entity, reference and amount, which your customer pays via online banking, their banking app, Multibanco (ATM) or a POS terminal.
How do Payshop references work?
Generate a Payshop code your customer can pay at thousands of Payshop points across Portugal — shops, kiosks and CTT agents.
How do e-commerce credit card payments work?
Accept credit card payments directly on your online store, with immediate confirmation and no physical terminal required.
What is a POS terminal?
A physical payment terminal that accepts cards and contactless payments, in your store or on the go.

Billing

How do I receive my invoices?
At the start of each month you receive by email the invoice issued on the last day of the previous month, containing all costs for the month it covers.
Where can I view my invoices?
Besides receiving the invoice by email, you can view all invoices issued in your name in lusopay's homebanking. To do so, click the Personal menu and then the Invoices menu.
Do invoices break down the payment services?
Yes, invoices have one line per payment service, showing the number of services performed and their value.

Direct debits

Can a payment made by direct debit be cancelled by the payer?
Yes. The payer can cancel a CORE-type direct debit payment with their bank up to 8 weeks after the debit, with no justification required.
Can I use my own creditor entity for direct debits?
Yes. You can use lusopay's creditor entity or your existing one, keeping the authorisations already collected.
How do I submit direct debit requests?
In the Lusopay homebanking you can enter payment requests through a form, or by uploading a CSV file with several direct debit requests, or with an XML file exported from your billing software, or directly through an API (with no human intervention).

Security & fraud

I don't recognise a payment on my bank account. What do I do?
If the payment was made through Lusopay, use the payment search on our site, by clicking here, to find out who made it. If you made the payment using another payment institution, you should contact them.
I think I'm a victim of payment fraud. What should I do?
If you believe you have been the victim of fraud involving payment services marketed by Lusopay, fill in the fraud reporting form, linked in the footer of this site. You may also file a complaint in the online complaints book of the entity you believe defrauded you, turn to arbitration centres, and file a criminal complaint with the police authorities or the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Is my billing software compatible?
Lusopay integrates with more than 40 different platforms, including online stores, billing software, point-of-sale solutions, and many others. To see all the integrated solutions, visit the Plugins and documentation page.
Where can I find the documentation?
In the technical documentation area, with manuals, endpoints and integration examples.
Is there a test environment?
Yes. Credentials and the test environment are provided during the integration process.
How am I notified of changes?
You can subscribe to the changelog to receive automatic alerts about new versions.
